Days 54 to 58: Five Days in Tiranë

I spent five days in Tiranë, the capital of Albania. The first couple of days I hung out with a Dutch girl named Lotte and a Turkish guy named Ismail from the hostel.

We had lunch together and walked to the square in the middle of the city. We also went to Bunk’Art 2, which I thought would be an art gallery of some sort, but it’s about the history of Albania during WWII. There is also the Pyramid of Tirana that I climbed to the top to see some views.

A couple of days later, I rode my bicycle to Dajti Ekspres station and took the cable car to the top of Dajti Mountain. It had great views of the city, but not much to do there.

The past couple of days were very hot. I basically chilled at the hostel and chatted with two Chinese travelers. One is a 21 years old film student who doesn’t have an English name so I’ll call him Gao. The other traveler is in his early 30s and has been traveling on and off for ten years. His English name is Ruke. I haven’t spoken that much Chinese in a long time. It was good to talk to them.

Albania is one of the cheaper countries to stay at. The hostel is only €11 per night. I guess I picked a good country to stay for a month.

Tomorrow, I’ll cycle to Durrës. It’ll be about 26 miles and I hope to get there early in the day.
