Yesterday, I didn’t write because there wasn’t much to write about. I cycled about 30 minutes from Veli Lošinj to Mali Lošinj then took the 9:30 AM ferry to Zadar.
Once in Zadar, I ate a kebab wrap for lunch then checked into The Hostel. I ended up chilling in the dorm for several hours listening to music. In the afternoon I walked around the old town.
I had the best tuna salad I’ve ever had at Fish House Zadar in old town. The tuna meat was cooked so well. I wish I had taken a photo of it.
In any case, there is a Roman forum and a couple of churches in old town. The best part of Zadar, to me, was the Sea Organ. It’s a music instrument mounted beneath a staircase and played by the waves on the sea. I’ve never seen anything like it before. Next to it is The Greeting to the Sun that consists of solar panels and plays a light show at night. So cool!
I also waited for the sunset by the shore. There were so many people doing the same that as soon as the sun had set, I walked back to the hostel.
This morning, I started my ride at 6:30 to Drage, about 23 miles south of Zadar. I had planned on staying at a campsite that’s owned by a Warmshowers host, but I decided to book a guesthouse instead so I can stay cool indoors. Plus, I didn’t know what I would do at a campsite for the whole day.
I arrived at Bed & Breakfast Drage guesthouse around 9 AM. After checking in, I relaxed and did some reading in The Art of Spending Money. I feel like the author and I have the same mindset about money. The book just reaffirms what I already believe.
In the afternoon, I walked to the beach part of Drage and had a seafood pasta for lunch. When I came back to my room I tried to build and deploy my home inventory manager app that I had built six months ago on my MacBook laptop. After a few hours of trying, I was able to make it work only for my computer, but not on any other macOS due to a signing issue and the application file being too large to host on Github. In the end, I was too tired and hungry so I gave up.
I just had some seafood pizza for dinner. I plan to walk to a lookout point not far from the guesthouse where I can see another sunset. Tomorrow, I’ll ride about 25 miles to Šibenik and stay at a hostel. I hope to get there around 9 AM to avoid the heat and the traffic.
