Days 168 to 173: Six Days in Wrocław, Poland, Part 3

I stayed in Wrocław for about another week when I came back from Dresden. I went to several museums, including the famous Racławice Panorama, which is a rotunda that contains a 360 degree painting of a 1794 battle between the Polish army and the Russian army. It’s probably the most famous tourist sight in the city.

The ticket also includes free admissions to three other museums. I ended up going to two of them. One is the National Museum in Wrocław and the other is the Four Domes Pavilion that houses Polish abstract art.

In terms of lodging, I stayed at Hostel Mleczarnia for three nights, then spent two nights at Rynek 30 Hostel since it’s at a central location by the main square. I switched back to Hostel Mleczarnia for the last two nights because there was some guy screaming in the middle of the night at the main square and disturbed my sleep.

Hostel Mleczarnia is more homey and more social than Rynek 30 Hostel. I met an 18 years old British student named Will there. We went up to the Bridge of Penitents where we had a great view of the city center. Will and I, along with another traveler named Grace, went to see the stand-up comedy show in the basement of the hostel. I had been there before and didn’t like it, but this time I laughed a bit more. Lastly, I went up to one of the towers in the Wrocław Cathedral with Katherine, a Canadian traveler I met at Rynek 30 Hostel.

On Thursday, I completed a technical assessment for a web developer job position at Canonical, the company that makes Ubuntu Linux. Then for the rest of the day I built my life-in-weeks webpage using AI. I was so surprised by the power of AI since I only started using it. I didn’t even write one line of code and AI wrote the app for me after I provided prompts. I only stopped “coding” when I reached my 100 requests limit of the month. This experience made me realize how easy it is to code an app. Maybe I’ll use it to build a home inventory app later.

A few days ago, Simon from Hostel Mleczarnia gave me a haircut. I ended up taking him to a Chinese restaurant and had some good Chinese food. Simon is 26 years old and lives in the hostel from time to time. In fact, there were a few people living in Hostel Mleczarnia. One Polish guy is about my age and is a philosophy graduate student living in the hostel. Another girl named Geyla is finishing her undergraduate degree.

Tomorrow morning, I will catch the 9:05 flight to Larnaca, Cyprus, to get out of the Schengen Area. It’ll be very hot in Larnaca, about 80F.
