Day 127: Grabina to Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki

Yesterday morning, I had my last meal with Chris and his parents. They were such wonderful people and I can see where Chris got his kindness from. His parents. I took a couple of more photos of them before I bid farewell. Chris’ dad also gave me two smoked sausages for the road, which was very nice of him.

Chris and his parents are the last people I had planned to visit in Europe. I have about two more months left in the Schengen Area so I can take it easy and do more sightseeing.

I feel so blessed by the people I’ve met so far. Most of them are Warmshowers or Couchsurfing hosts, but I’m sure I’ll meet some of them again and become friends. Just like how Chris and I became friends after meeting each other when we were traveling. I remember writing in my journal a long time ago that I want to have friends all over the world. Maybe I can actually do it.

From Grabina, I rode for 51.9 miles all the way to Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki since there weren’t any good places to stop for a rest. I didn’t even pass by any restaurants.

The first half of the ride was mainly on a dirt and gravel road. It wasn’t easy riding since I had to watch out for potholes, sand, and mud. I decided to get on the main road for the second half of the ride. Good thing there weren’t many cars even though there were no shoulders on the sides of the road.

After about five hours of cycling, I reached the Noclegi Przy Stacji hotel in Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki. There are several restaurants right by the hotel. I ended up having a spaghetti bologna for lunch at 3 PM.

After checking in, I took a shower then decided to walk around the town. There is a church and a park. I also walked on a levee that’s by a river. I didn’t think there’s anything else to see so I came back to the hotel.

For dinner, I had chicken tikka masala with rice and a mango lassi at Curry and Spice, an Indian restaurant that’s right around the corner of the hotel.

The price for food is noticeably cheaper in Poland than in Germany, The Netherlands, and the UK. My spaghetti lunch was 34 Polish Zloty, or about US$9.34. And my Indian dinner was 59 Zloty, or US$16.20.

Today, I will ride about 20 miles to Warsaw and stay with a Warmshowers host. I had planned to stay for two nights there, but I might stay longer in a hostel if I feel there’s more to see in the capital of Poland.
