Day 94: Day Trip to Leeds

Yesterday, I took the train to Leeds to do some more exploration. On the train, I saw a rainbow in front of some dark clouds. That must be a sign that good things are coming.

My mood got better as I arrived in Leeds. I went to several museums, including the Henry Moore Institute, Leeds Art Gallery, Leeds City Museum, and Royal Armouries Museum. I enjoyed the art museums, but I was feeling a little tense at the Royal Armouries Museum. I think it’s because I don’t like guns and there were many weaponry on display. Through traveling, I learned what I like and what I don’t like.

I took the train back to York so I can have time to take a shower and meet Mark, my old travel friend. We met around 4:30 PM outside York Minster.

It was so great to see Mark! We met in the summer of 2003 in Austin, Texas, along with Mark’s friend Andrew. I can’t believe that was 22 years ago! As Mark and I walked to Spark food court to get dinner, we recalled watching The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly at a movie theater in Austin and that Mark bought a shirt at a second-hand store that he still has it today. Now, Mark is married with two kids and lives about 8 miles north of York. It was great catching up with Mark. If I were to come back to the UK and in the York area I’ll meet with Mark again.

Today, I’ll be cycling to Hull and take the 8:30 PM ferry to Rotterdam. It’ll be my final day of cycling in the UK. I hope to get there safely.
