Day 93: Rest Day in York

Yesterday, I walked all over the city of York and saw everything I needed to see. York is another small walkable city. The major attractions were Clifford’s Tower and York Minster, which is a large cathedral. There was a medieval street called the Shambles that was full of tourists. I also took the time to walk on three sections of the city walls. It was a full day.

However, no matter what I do my mind can’t seem to enjoy the moment and I kept on thinking about the future, such as the bike ride to Hull, what my bike route will be in mainland Europe, and what I should do after my bike tour. I need to be more mindful of the things I’m doing now and not think so much about the future.

But I can understand why I’m thinking this way. I’ll be out of the UK in a couple of days so I’m expecting a change when I arrive in The Netherlands. Maybe I’m just preparing myself mentally.

Last night, I couldn’t fall asleep until after 10:30 PM. There was so much noise in the dorm room. Today, I will take the train to Leeds and explore there before coming back in the afternoon to meet with Mark for dinner. I hope I can be more mindful and take things easy.
