Day 27: Rovinj to Pula

Yesterday afternoon, I walked around the town of Rovinj. It was the hottest part of the day and didn’t have the will to go up to see the bell tower. I did have an excellent tuna poke bowl for dinner at Fish House Rovinj though. When I got back to the studio apartment, I thought about going to see the sunset in a couple of hours. Then my body told me it’s time to sleep so I went to bed around 7 PM.

This morning, I left the apartment at 5:45. I followed the EuroVelo 8 route again and it took me to some trails with rough terrain and rocks. I don’t know what I dislike more, uphills or rocky trails.

Since I only had to ride about 23 miles I arrived at Hostel Antique in Pula at 9 AM. I couldn’t check in because I was so early, but I was able to store my bicycle on the ground floor and my panniers in the storage room. I paid €12 to do laundry, which was quite expensive considering I only have three sets of clothing to wash.

I took this time to eat a salad for breakfast, walked around the town, and bought a ferry ticket for tomorrow morning to Mali Lošinj, a small town on an island farther south. I might have to stay there for two nights since the next ferry to Zadar will be on Friday, unless I want to take a different ferry that will arrive in Zadar on Thursday night at almost midnight. Not sure if I want to arrive so late.

After checking into the hostel, my laundry was done too. I went out again to get some lunch then came back and applied for some Workaway volunteering opportunities in Albania, took a shower, and napped.

In Pula, I’ve already seen the Arch of the Sergii, Pula Arena, and the Pula Citadel. I missed the Temple of Augustus so I will go see that after writing this post. Then I will eat dinner and probably call it a day. Tomorrow, I’ll take the 7 AM ferry to Mali Lošinj, unless it gets canceled due to the wind and the rain. We’ll have to see.
