Yesterday morning, I had one last breakfast with Henryk then I got ready to ride the 40 miles to Vienna.
We bid our farewells at the tram station, where Henryk will take the tram to see his dentist. I hope to see him again some time soon and I really enjoyed my stay with Henryk and the many conversations we had.
I used the navigation app Mapy this time to see if it works better than Organic Maps. Henryk had recommended it to me and he was able to revise my route so that I mainly rode on bicycle paths all the way to Vienna. I had no issues using Mapy, but I noticed it drained my battery more than Organic Maps. Maybe it’s because I didn’t download the offline map before hand.
In any case, it was a joy to ride on the bike paths and I didn’t have to worry about cars. There were many cyclists, some of them were day riders and others were touring with panniers. Soon, I crossed into Austria for the third time.
The bike path went straight on the levee for many miles. It was almost boring to cycle on since the scenery didn’t change much. I took an hour break at Radlertreff Hermi, a small restaurant next to the bike path, where I had a plate of sausages before moving on.
After another hour and half or so, I arrived at the Vienna City Center Hostel at 2 PM. For some reason, I was so tired that I took a two hour nap in the afternoon.
I didn’t get a chance to explore the city that day and the only thing I did was to get a dish of beef noodles at Pho Mi restaurant.
Today, I think I will take my bike to explore the city since there are many places that are too far away for walking. I might also stay for an extra day tomorrow if there’s vacancy at the hostel.
