Days 193 and 194: Two More Days in Amman

I spent two more days in Amman after the day trips.

On the first day, I walked to the King Abdullah I Mosque since it was closer to the Battuta Hostel than the other hostels. The mosque has a huge dome that’s very impressive. Other than that I didn’t find anything else interesting.

After I checked in at The Cabin hostel again, I met up with Pavle and we went to the Darat al Funun - The Khalid Shoman Foundation. It’s an art museum, but we didn’t see much because the workers were busy putting on a new exhibition. There was only one small gallery that contained a few paintings. Pavle and I ended up chilling at the cafe inside the museum and waited for Kasia to meet us.

When Kasia arrived, the three of us went to the Sign Museum. It’s a small museum that’s right by The Cabin hostel. I didn’t even notice it this whole time.

The Sign Museum contained many signs and posters in Arabic. I didn’t understand any of it, but it was cool to walk around inside.

Next, we decided to try knafeh, a sweet dessert made with cheese, dough, and syrup. The best place to get it is at Habibah Sweets. It’s a quite famous place and recommended to us by ChatGPT. To me, it was just an OK dessert. Not my favorite.

At night, I met up with Brendan again. This time, I brought along Xiaohan, the Chinese-Canadian I had met in Cyprus who is staying at the same hostel as me. The three of us had dinner at a seafood restaurant. It might be the last time I’ll see Brendan on this trip.

The next day, I booked a Jett bus ticket from Amman to Petra and three nights stay at Nomads Hotel since my Jordan Pass allowed me to visit Petra for three days. I also applied for an Egyptian eVisa for $25 online. Additionally, I helped Pavle book his roundtrip bus tickets to Petra as well. Other than that, I didn’t do much and stayed at the hostel the whole day.

This morning, Pavle and I took the 6:30 bus to Wadi Musa, a village that’s next to Petra. We will go to Petra tomorrow.
