Day 75: Rest Day in Green Bay

Yesterday was a good rest day for me. I did laundry, inflated the tires on my bike, finished reading Mike’s Camino book, took a hike in the farm, and had wonderful meals that were cooked by Paul.

Mike and Paul were great hosts, not only to me but also to their three farm workers. Paul cooked a delicious chicken enchilada lunch for all of us. Then at dinner time, he cooked veggie burgers when Mike’s brother Joey and his daughter Erin came to visit.

The highlight of the day was when Joey invited me to see a play at the Watermark Theatre that night. Of course, I decided to go.

Joey, Erin, and I went to the wharf in North Rustico Harbour first before going to see the show.

The play was called “Dear Jack, Dear Louise.” It’s about a couple writing letters to each other during WWII and is based on a true story. It only had two actors and they performed very well. I don’t remember the last time I saw a play and this one was really good.

I arrived back at Mike and Paul’s farm at 10:15 PM. Today, I need to leave here around 7 AM and get to the ferry terminal at 1 PM to catch the 1:30 PM ferry from Wood Islands, PEI, to Caribou, Nova Scotia. The ferry leaves about every two hours and I want to get to my Warmshowers host’s place not too late.

  1. Hey Hiatt, Good to see you rest and relax. Had my first Warmshower Guest at my house last night then rode with them on part of the OTET trail that goes from Cleveland to Cincinnati. They have ridden extensively in the USA and did the Erie Canal Way Trail last year. They also stayed in the Hideaway. The Rileys off grid shed with solar panels. You stayed there ahead of me then laid over in Rochester before catching me before Medina. Think about you everyday and look forward to your posts. My plan in September is to ride from Cleveland through Michigan and Wisconsin to St. Paul Minnesota to see my son Matthew. Take care, Mike Devis
