Day 69: Dalhousie to Bathurst
Yesterday after leaving Tim Hortons in Dalhousie, I cycled on Route 134 the entire way to Bathurst.
It was nice to see a group of cyclists passed by me. Their shirts said something about cancer. They must be raising money for cancer research.
On the road, I saw more industrial sites. One was an energy plant since there was smoke coming out of a large chimney. The other was a lumber mill. I bet many of the lumber trucks I saw in Gaspesie were going there.
I also caught up with a touring cyclist couple whom I met the day before at Campbellton. I didn’t think I’d see them again since they were in a hurry. We chatted a bit more this time since I had commented on the man’s Facebook group post about some advice he was seeking. Their names are Jean-François and Jacinthe. They are doing a two week bike ride around New Brunswick.
A while after meeting them, I reached the town of Petit Rocher and stopped at Quai cuisine de rue, a cantine on the dock. When I saw the lobster poutine on the menu I knew I had to try it. And it was pretty good indeed.
After lunch and about 10 more miles, I reached my destination of Bathurst, having ridden a total of 54.7 miles for the day. My place for staying the night was a room in a house that I reserved on Booking.com.
After settling down and taking a shower, I walked to the KFC, or PFK in French, to have a chicken sandwich meal. The place had so many people waiting since the staff was not organized or efficient and the wait time was 30 minutes to get my food. Needless to say, I was not happy since this is supposed to be fast food. I will not go to another KFC again.
Back in my room, I planned to see what my destinations looked like for the rest of Canada. I will most likely reach Halifax on July 19th or 20th. There are no boats going from Halifax to Europe on findacrew.com at the moment so I’ll have to book a plane ticket soon. Most likely I’ll go to Paris to start my European bike tour.
This morning, I woke up around 5:30. I will leave soon to get some breakfast before riding to Miramichi and staying with a host from couchers.org.

ReplyDeleteThank you Bob for your comment and all your previous comments. But please lay off on the "safe travels" because too much of these seem like a jinx to me. Thanks!
