Yesterday, I didn’t do much. I ended up going to the library to do some reading and finished browsing a book called Rich AF. In the afternoon, I did laundry in the hostel then got dinner at a Thai restaurant. After the meal, I walked to the Gateshead Millennium Bridge to take a look. There were so many people there, it must be a popular spot.
Mark got back to me regarding our plans to meet. I will see him in York on Tuesday around 4:30 PM. I decided to book a train ticket for today so I can get out of Newcastle as soon as possible and visit a new city. This will help with my boredom. I will take my bike on the train since I reserved a spot for it.
At the hostel, I saw a YouTube video about a guy who cycled from The Netherlands to China. The roads in Central Asia looked rough, if you can even call them roads. I don’t think I’m tough enough to cycle through that, especially in a region where there are few services. My original plan is to take a flight from Istanbul, Türkiye, to Southeast Asia. That might still be the plan.
I’m thinking of spending a few days in York to see Mark and explore a bit. Then I might cycle to Hull and take the ferry to Rotterdam. I wish I can spend more time in the UK since there are so many cities I’d like to see, but cycling in the UK is not for me. Also, the more time I spend in the UK is potentially less time in mainland Europe due to winter. In the Schengen Area, I can only stay for a maximum of 90 days in a 180 day period. It’s prudent to finish cycling in Europe before it gets too cold in the winter.
My train leaves Newcastle at 10:59 AM. I will get ready soon.
