Two nights ago, I didn’t go to the show because after packing up my laptop I was late to the concert and it was sold out. I made some ramen for dinner and hung out at the campsite, chatting with a few campers.
The weather was cold and I didn’t feel like going to the 8 PM concert so I went to bed after 7 PM.
It rained overnight and my tent was wet the next morning. After packing up, I headed out on the road around 7:45 AM.
There were more hills, not as big as the one from the day before. I cycled up most of them, though I did walk my bike a few times.
For breakfast, I had a Western Omelette at L'Etoile Du Nord, a restaurant/motel. It was nice eating my favorite breakfast meal with three cups of coffee while looking out the window at a great view of the St. Lawrence River.
The hills kept coming. The good thing about an uphill is the downhill. Then there would be another hill to climb. It reminded me of life. For every difficulty there’s the aftermath. Life itself is a series of hills.
I made it to Rivière-au-Renard and had a shrimp sandwich at La Cantine du quai. It was good, but I still felt a bit hungry. After going up another hill, I arrived at Petit café de l'anse at the top where I had a strawberry smoothie.
I was now at the Forillon National Park. And for my last stop before I reach my destination for the day, I had a huge cappuccino ice cream cone at Bar Laitier Casse Croute La Molliere, which was right by the Cap-des-Rosiers Lighthouse. Life is great when I’m watching the lighthouse and eating an ice cream cone.
After this break, I decided to ride on the gravel path to the visitor center at Forillon National Park. I only browsed a little bit there since I was too tired to do any intense learning.
I finished one last hill of the day before riding down to Le Carabobo auberge Forillon, the hostel where I stayed for the night. I arrived at 4:15 PM and rode 57.9 miles. I have a new personal record for max speed going down a hill. It was 46.2 mph.
After settling down, I took a shower then walked to the Cap Aventure convenience store to buy ramen, fruit cups, and canned fish and mussels for dinner.
I chatted with a few people in the hostel. One guy’s name was Guillaume, who hitchhiked here. I think I saw him on the side of the road a couple of days ago.
At 8 PM, I went to bed. The sun didn’t even set yet. I got up at 5:45 AM. I will be riding about 40 miles today and staying at a Warmshowers host’s place tonight.

Morning my friend. Continued thoughts for a safe and enjoyable journey.
ReplyDeleteThis scenery is breathtaking! I see why they made it a national park.
ReplyDelete46.2 mph?!!! I’m glad you made it to the bottom of the hill in one piece!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the Zhaosim re: life as a series of hills and the simple pleasures of food with a view :)
My bike started to wobble as I rode down that steep hill. LOL!
