Day 53: Rest Day in Quebec City

Yesterday morning, Boro made a delicious breakfast for us. Afterward, Anas and I started our walking tour of Old Quebec via Rue Saint-Jean.

Old Quebec is a UNESCO heritage city due to its city walls and the fort. Everything I wanted to see was in walking distance. It was a good day to explore since the temperature had cooled down and the sky wasn’t cloudy.

Anas and I went to the top of a hill at Parc du Bastion-de-la-Reine, as it was recommended by Boro. We enjoyed the amazing view of the city. Then we walked farther west on Rue Saint-Louis before getting gyros at La Galette Libanaise, Grande-Allee. The food was overpriced since we were in a touristy area.

After lunch, Anas and I bid our goodbyes since Anas was going to his friend’s place for the night. I will miss Anas since we shared some our cycling adventures together.

I walked back to Old Quebec, went inside the Parliament Building, and hung around the town before coming back to Boro’s house. I bought three boxes of chocolate cookies at an European grocery store for Boro’s family as a token of my appreciation for staying at his place for two nights.

When I came back, Boro finished his work and was going to pick up his son from daycare. I rode my bike to Victoria Park to meet Maude since Boro will meet her there after daycare. Once everyone was together, we relaxed at the park near the water fountain.

Boro and Maude will take their two sons to bicycle around the world once the youngest turns 10. I’ve heard of people bike travel with kids. I hope all the best for their future bike tour.

We came back Boro’s place after the park. Boro’s mom made salad and Boro made gnocchi with meatballs for dinner. I cleaned the dishes afterward.

No Warmshowers hosts replied for my next stop or the one after that. I will have to camp for two nights in a row. I reached out to hosts on Couchsurfing.com, but I’m not sure I’ll get anything.

Today, I will ride over 60 miles to Saint-Jean-Port-Joli. I hope to find a campground there.
